Abstract

1,241,995. Core constructions. LAURENCE SCOTT & ELECTROMOTORS Ltd., and M. D. CRAIG. 25 April, 1969 [25 April, 1968], No. 19686/68. Heading H2A. [Also in Division B3] A segmental pole rotor for a synchronous reluctance motor comprises laminations carried by a non-magnetic core cast into position on the laminations, and a cage winding mounted on the laminations, the winding being made of non- magnetic material of electrical conductivity greater than that of the core. The rotor disclosed includes four circumferentially spaced stacks of magnetic laminations 1 carrying copper or copper alloy bars 3A, 4A brazed to end rings 6, and a non-magnetic, e.g. aluminium or epoxy resin, core 7A part 2A of which occupies aligned slots 2, Fig. 3 (not shown) in the laminations. The laminations may be additionally secured together with an adhesive and some of the slats (2) may be occupied by tie bolts, e.g. of steel, secured in the cast core. The tie bolts may in addition be secured to non-magnetic sleeves attached to the rotor shaft at the ends of the core.
