Abstract

1,118,354. Shaft furnaces. F. SEPULCHRE. 18 April, 1966 [5 May, 1965], No. 16794/66. Heading F4B. In a shaft furnace having an annular sole plate 5 swept by scrapers 13 rotated with a shaft 7, a coaxial combustion chamber 17 is rotated with the shaft 7. Fluent fuel is fed to the chamber 17 by an injector 15, and hot gases pass into the charge in the furnace through outlets 19. A charge distributer cone 18 closes the top of the chamber 17 and lateral off-takes are provided for the gas produced by calcining limestone or dolomite.
