Abstract
1,118,257. Reheat combustion equipment. SOC. NATIONALE D'ETUDE ET DE CONSTRUCTION DE MOTEURS D'AVIATION. June 10, 1966 [June 11, 1965; March 22, 1966], No. 26047/66. Heading F1L. An arrangement for fixing a thermal protection lining 3 to the wall 2 of a jet propulsion engine reheat chamber 1 comprises, Fig. 1, a series of fixed attachment points 4 and at least one series of slidably mounted attachment points 5 distributed around the circumference of the chamber to permit the lining to expand longitudinally. The lining 3 has longitudinal corrugations and in one embodiment, Fig. 3, each fixed attachment point comprises a cup washer 6 whose skirt 6a fits over a correspondingly shaped portion of a corrugation peak of the lining and is secured thereto by a conically headed bolt 7 passing through the chamber wall 2 to receive a nut 8 and locking washer 9. The slidably mounted attachment points each comprise, Fig. 6, a slide 10 in the form of a cradle bolted to the wall 2 by two spaced bolts 11, 11' and in which slides longitudinally a necked cup washer 12 having a skirt 12a attached to the lining 3 by a rivet 13. In a modification, Figs. 8 to 10 (not shown), each fixed attachment point is formed by a cradle arrangement the same as that shown in Fig. 6 but in which the cup washer 12 is immobilized in the member 10 by means of two spaced wedges. Instead of upstream fixed and downstream sliding attachment points, as shown in Fig. 1, the two series may be reversed or the lining may be supported by fixed points at its middle and sliding points at its upstream and downstream ends.
