Abstract
Artificial tooth parts, e.g. crowns, inlays, and dental bridges are made by coating an appropriate support layerwise with suitable plastically deformable polymerizable masses, each layer being at least partially polymerized before the application of the next layer. Liquid monomers which may be used in the polymerizable masses, optionally with fillers, colouring materials, and dry powdered polymers, e.g. polymethyl methacrylate and a methyl methacrylate-allyl methacrylate copolymer, include diallyl fumarate, cyclohexyl methacrylate, tetrahydrofurfuryl methacrylate, tri-, tetra- and other polyethylene glycol dimethacrylates or acrylates, trimethylol propane trimethacrylate, 1,3 butyleneglycol dimethacrylate, diallyl phthalate and cyanuric acid triallyl ester. Polymerization may be effected by the application of heat and/or radiation and/or the addition of catalysts such as peroxides.ALSO:Artificial tooth parts e.g. crowns, inlays, and dental bridges are made by coating an appropriate support layerwise with suitable plastically deformable polymerisable masses, each layer being at least partially polymerised before the application of the next layer. The support, which may be removable, may be made of metal, synthetic plastics, or plaster of Paris, and coating may be effected with a brush, spatula or spray can. The coating compositions preferably comprise esters of an aliphatic polyhydroxy compound and acrylic acid or methacrylic acid together with fillers and colouring materials. Methyl methacrylate polymer may be included in the polymerisable masses.ALSO:Artificial tooth parts e.g. crowns, inlays, and dental bridges, are made by coating an appropriate support in a layerwise manner with suitable plastically deformable polymerisable masses, each layer being at least partially polymerised before the application of the next layer. Monomers which may be used in the polymerisable masses include esters of an aliphatic polyhydroxy compound and acrylic acid or methacrylic acid. Methyl methacrylate polymer may be included in the polymerisable masses together with fillers, and colouring materials. The support may be made of metal, synthetic plastics, or plaster of paris and coating may be effected with a brush, spatula, or spray can. A release layer e.g. of a silicone may be applied to the support.
