Abstract

The perforated rotary cylinder of a drying ironing machine has its felt covering dried by heated or dehydrated air which flows through the covering in the region of the co-operating ironing trough if a perforate trough is used or externally of that region if a non-perforated trough is used. When a perforated trough is used an air tight screen may be used to cover the exposed part of the cylinder and ensure that air pumped into the cylinder passed into the trough. When a non-perforated trough is used an auxiliary perforated trough may be used through which drying air is passed into the cylinder.
