Abstract

1,112,028. Rackets. CARLTON TYRE SAVING CO. Ltd. 18 April, 1966 [19 Jan., 1966; 26 Feb., 1966], Nos. 2401/66 and 8549/66. Heading A6D. A racket frame is formed from a metal tube having apertures in said tube for stringing, said apertures having integral flanges projecting towards the. interior of the tube to provide surfaces for said stringing both on the inside and outside of the racket frame and is characterised in that the metal of the tube is malleable to enable the integral flanged apertures to be formed in said frame and said metal has been hardened after said forming. A perforated plastic e.g. nylon or metal insert may be placed within the tube and may form a die in the punching operation in which the flanges are formed. The insert may remain to provide extra weight or in the case of a plastic insert may be removed by melting e.g. during a hardening process. Cross sections of a frame are shown in Figs. 4 and 5.
