Abstract
1,196,371. Electric air heater and steam generator. A. OKSANEN. 26 Jan., 1968 [22 Feb., 1967; 8 Jan., 19681, No. 4311/68. Heading H5H. A heater for a bath house comprises a mantle 1 surrounding a basket 8, 9, containing stones 23, a resistance heating element 4 below the basket, a thin layer of loose stones 24 over the top of the basket, a first air path 18, 22 being provided between mantle 1 and the basket 8, 9, and heating element 4 to cool the mantle and a second air path 21 being provided through the heating element 4, the basket containing the stones 23, and the loose stones 24 to provide a heated air flow. A second heating element 11 surrounds the basket to heat the stones 23 and air in the path 21. Air enters the bottom of the mantle 1 through a gap between a round bottom plate 3 and the mantle and leaves either through the thin layer of stones 24 or through holes 19 at the top of the mantle 1. Relays, contacts and other components for the heating device are contained in a box B spaced from the mantle 13 to provide a passage for cooling air. The heaters may be controlled by a room thermostat, and water may be thrown on to the stones to produce steam.
