Abstract
1,195,596. Pneumatic flotation conveyers. R. E. FUTER. 31 Oct., 1968 [2 Nov., 1967], No. 49943/67. Heading B8A. A pneumatic flotation conveyer comprises a conveying surface 11 formed with at least one band of apertures and mounted on a plenum chamber 10, the apertures being formed such that the gas flow therethrough has a component longitudinally of the surface and the total width of the band or bands of apertures being not greater than half the width between guide rails 15. The guide rails are supported by brackets 14 which are adjustable to vary the distance between the rails. As shown in Fig. 1, the apertures are formed as louvres. In a second embodiment, Fig. 5, the apertures 24 are formed in a surface 22, which underlies imperforate strips 23, and are formed by depressing triangular shaped portions of the surface after making V-shaped incisions. The guide rails are replaced by walls 25 formed with apertures for the escape of the gas.
