Abstract

1,193,539. Foundry sand mixing apparatus. SOUTHINGTON MFG. Inc. 25 Oct., 1968 [4 April, 1968], No. 50749/68. Heading B1C. In apparatus for continuously mixing sand, acid, and binder to form a foundry sand mix, the acid and binder are stored in tanks 46, 48 adjacent a mixing trough 22 and are supplied thereto through metering valves 52 by means of compressed air. The sand is supplied to the trough through a gate valve which is operated by a pneumatic motor regulated by appropriate valves. The materials in the trough are mixed by blades on a rotatable shaft. The trough may be so mounted that it can ibe raised or lowered, or pivoted about a vertical axis. The acid is delivered to the trough through hose 54 to be mixed with sand before binder is added through hose 56. The foundry sand mix is discharged through spout 30.
