Abstract

119,236. Bradley, L. June 21, 1916, [Convention date]. Gases, electrically precipitating suspended particles from.-In the electrical precipitation of suspended matter from gases, the conductivity of the gases is improved by adding an agent such as water, steam, or sulphuric acid vapour. The gases may be maintained under pressure to prevent inward leakage of air. The separation of particles such as soot may be rendered more effective by wetting them. When the separated particles are deliquescent as in the case of potassiferous blast-furnace dust, the temperature should be kept high enough to keep the insulators dry.
