Abstract

1,189,467. Lampholders. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 30 Nov., 1967 [3 Dec., 1966], No. 54501/67. Heading H2E. A lampholder for a tubular lamp has a onepiece insulating body including a cover hinged to the remainder of the body by an integral web. As shown, the cover 4 which is hinged at 18 to the remainder 3 of the body, is held closed by heat deformation of a boss 5 which projects through an aperture 7 in the cover. The lamp pins are inserted through a slot 19 in the body and the lamp rotated through 90 degrees to bring its pins into engagement with surfaces 8 of contact springs 2, lead wires (not shown) which are inserted in slots 9-10 being clamped between limbs 11 and 12 of the contacts 2. A mounting flange 16 projects from the body, and the boss 5 is hollow for receiving a mounting screw. In another embodiment, the cover is also hinged, by an integral web, to an additional cover which closes a further surface of the body.
