Abstract

118,195. Sams, J. G. B. Nov. 1, 1917. Tyres, non-elastic. - Wheels for agricultural vehicles and the like are fitted with tread plates 7, figs. 4 and 6, of angle or other section each having a hooked end adapted to engage between projections 6 at the inner edge of the wheel rim B and secured by a radial bolt 8. In the modification shown in Fig. 8, tread plates 10 are hinged to brackets 14 adapted to engage over lugs 15 formed on the inner periphery of the rim. The tread plates may be used on soft ground and removed when the vehicle is travelling on the road; or if the wheels are provided with tread studs &c., the tread plates may be fitted between the studs &c. to protect the road surface.
