Abstract

1,178,294. Tableting lubricant. MILES LABORATORIES Inc. 17 Feb., 1967, No. 7749/67. Heading A5B. Water-effervescent tablets are made by compressing a mixture of a powdered water-effervescent tabletable composition and a tableting lubricant comprising fumaric acid. The effervescent component is a mixture of an alkali metal carbonate or bicarbonate and an acid preferably other than fumaric acid, e.g. malic, citric or tartaric acids. The tablets may contain therapeutically active agents other than the effervescent substances, e.g. analgesics such as acetyl salicylic acid or acetyl p-aminophenol, and conventional binders, disintegrating agents, colouring and flavouring agents.
