In apparatus for feeding continuously or discontinuously a web of paper, film or laminated material from a roll 1 through traction rollers 3, 3<SP>1</SP> to a wrapping machine, the web, during its passage from the rolls 3, 3<SP>1</SP> to the machine, is subjected on one or both of its surfaces to currents of air originally directed at an angle of 0-90 degrees to the sheet surface and subsequently caused by guides 5, 51, 6, 6<SP>1</SP> to move parallel to the web movement. Adjustable nozzles 4, 4<SP>1</SP> which may have a slot opening or one or more apertures, apply the air currents to the web. The guides 5, 5<SP>1</SP> are separated from the guides 6, 6<SP>1</SP> to allow the operation of cutters 10, 10<SP>1</SP>. Beyond the guides 6, 6<SP>1</SP> are means 11 for presenting to the severed part of the web an article 12 to be packed. Vibration of the material may be induced by modulating the air flow. The feed of the material may be in a vertical, horizontal or oblique plane.
