Abstract

1,175,650. Coating apparatus. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. 7 Nov., 1968. A dispenser for liquid resinous material supplied in the form of a continuous rod 1 comprises a melting tube 3 provided at one end with a nozzle 10 controlled by a valve 7 and containing at its other end a sleeve insert 5 having a portion of substantially the same internal diameter as the external diameter of rod 1 and a tapered portion 8 increasing in diameter towards the nozzle end of the tube, the insert sleeve being made from material, such as PTFE, to which the resinous material will not adhere, means 2 for feeding the rod into the tube at the insert sleeve end, the feeding means being disengaged from the rod when the valve is closed and engaged with the rod when the valve is open, an electrical heater 4 extending over the tube except for the portion containing the insert sleeve, the heater being such that the nozzle end of the tube is maintained at the dispensing temperature and the insert sleeve end at the melting temperature of the resinous matrial, and the tube being mounted at the insert sleeve end in a large heatconducting mass 6.
