Abstract

1,173,125. Sonic mixer. SONIC ENG. CORP. 15 May, 1968 [12 June, 1967], No. 23195/68. Heading B1C. A sonic mixer comprising a jet-forming element 100, a blade assembly 90, and a valve assembly is provided with mechanisms 40, 50 for adjusting the positions of the blade assembly with respect to the jet-forming element and valve member 83 with respect to valve seat 23. Each adjusting mechanism includes a threaded ring 41, 51, a retaining ring 42, 52, and a calibrator ring 46, 56. Threaded rings 41, 51 engage threads on sleeves 70, 72 which are connected to the valve member and blade assembly respectively, so that rotation of the rings causes axial displacement of the valve member and blade assembly. Calibration rings 46, 56 are provided with radial markings which may be used in conjunction with markings on the sleeves 70, 72 for adjustment purposes. Valve member 83 may be spring-loaded so as to permit the valve to open when the valve member in its closed position is subjected to pressure exceeding a predetermined limit.
