Abstract
1,170,533. Coating conductors by extrusion. SUMITOMO ELECTRIC INDUSTRIES Ltd. 24 Jan., 1967 [31 Jan., 1966], No. 3456/67. Heading B5A. An electrical conductor is coated with a foamed insulation in an extrusion head 4, a removes the solvent from the coating by passage of air at 50-80 C. and comprises vertically or horizontally arranged pairs of dancer rollers (91), (92), Figs. 5-7 (not shown), one roller shaft being pulled by a torque motor (95), the torque determining the tension on the conductor. The foaming device 10 may comprise a liquid foaming trough containing, e.g. glycerine, or an electric furnace. The diameter of the conductor is of the order of 0À32-0À40 mm.
