Abstract

1,170,367. Tables, seats, desks. H. C. SHEPHERD & CO. Ltd. 31 May, 1968 [6 June, 1967], No. 26108/67. Headings A4H and A4U. Three or more legs are connected together in pairs to form an underframe for two or more table tops, 19 or seats by connectors 17 having at their ends plugs 15, 16 adapted to be inserted in pairs of sockets 11, 12 on the legs. The sockets 11, 12 may be located at or adjacent the upper or lower ends of the legs and may be of square or circular section. The plugs 15, 16 are cylindrical. Each leg is made of steel, aluminium or polycarbonate and comprises two C shaped members strapped together back to back. A plurality of legs and connectors are arranged to support quadrant shaped table tops (28) and rectangular table tops 19 to form a table of horse shoe shape (Fig. 2, not shown) or to support four quadrant shaped table tops (31) forming a circular table (Fig. 4, not shown). Tumbuckles 22 at the ends of the upper arms of the legs engage the underside of the table tops The connecting members may be secured to seat panels (43) (Figs 8, 9, not shown).
