A cutting guide for use in forming a plane surface at a predetermined angle to a rectangular plane face of a workpiece 12 comprises an upper limb 27 and a vertical web 26, a movable clamping member 31 attached to the lower end of the vertical wall and adapted to clamp the workpiece to a bench 22 under the upper limb, a cutting guide wall 25 projecting upwardly from the upper surface of the upper limb at each side thereof and extending forwardly in a divergent manner at a predetermined angle, and second clamping means 29 for clamping workpieces supported on the upper limb against the inner faces of the cutting guide walls. The walls 25 extend at 45 degrees, or any other desired angle, from the vertical web so that the ends of the workpiece 12 may be cut by a saw held in contact with the walls at the desired angle. Two workpieces which have had their ends cut while held in the guide may be positioned and held while glued or pinned by the clamp 29 which has two walls 32 which are movable by a screw 35 to hold the workpieces against the inner surfaces of the guiding walls 28.
