Abstract

1,166,145. Sawing. R. F. STEVENS. 30 May, 1968 [8 March, 1967], No. 10990/67. Heading B5L. A sawtooth comprises a cutting edge 3 formed by the intersection of a front face 4 and a top face 2, the front face being provided with a depression extending over part of its width and along its entire length in a direction normal to the cutting edge. The top face 2 forms an angle of substantially 10 degrees with a tangent to the cutting circle of the saw and between 35 to 60 degrees with the front face 4 in which is the concave depression 5 between shoulders 6. The shoulders may be flat or form parts of a second concave shape. The tooth may be inserted in a bit 8, or be integral with the bit or the blade of the saw and may be coated with hardened material. The depression may be concave or V-shaped, a radius being formed at the intersection of the faces of the V.
