Abstract
1,163,187. Photographic, heat-developable silver halide materials. FUJI SHASHIN FILM K.K. June 6, 1967 [June 6, 1966J, No.26148/67. Heading G2C. A photographic, light-sensitive material which can be developed by heat and fixed by exposure to ultraviolet radiation has at least one layer containing (1) a light-insensitive, reducible organic silver salt e.g. the silver salt of benzotriazole or of a halo-, methyl- or nitro-benzotriazole, the silver salt of saccharin or silver behenate; (2) a silver halide or an inorganic halide capable of forming a silver halide by reaction with (1) e.g. a chloride, bromide or iodide of hydrogen, ammonium, sodium, potassium, caesium, copper, gold, beryllium, magnesium, calcium, strontium, barium, zinc, cadmium, mercury, aluminium, lanthanum, tin, lead, antimony, chromium, iron, cobalt or nickel; (3) a reducing agent which is a compound containing a group -C(OY) = C(OH)- or - CH(OY)CO- where Y is hydrogen or acyl and which is capable of being decomposed by ultraviolet radiation to lose its reducing property e.g. 1- ascorbic acid and mono- and diesters thereof, furoin, benzoin and dihydroxyacetone; and (4) an organic acid and/or salt thereof e.g. aliphatic monocarboxylic acids of 9-26C and aliphatic dicarboxylic acids of 4-10C. On imagewise light exposure, development by heat and irradiation with ultraviolet, the material gives a stable negative image, but a positive image may be obtained by imagewise exposure to ultraviolet, overall exposure to light and development by heat.
