Abstract
1,159,374. Cathodic protection of pipes. L. BAGNULO. March 8, 1968 [March 15, 1967], No.11346/68. Heading C7E. A pipe or tube for the construction of pipelines or fluid containers is cathodically protected by means of a sacrificial anode of e. g. Al, Zn or Mg fixed as a ribbon in continuous metallic contact along the whole length of the pipe along at least one generatrix of the internal and/or external surface of the pipe. The ribbon anode may be welded directly to the pipe or through a supporting material which is in contact with the pipe. Alternatively the ribbon may be adhesively attached to the roughened surface of the pipe by a mastic or resin. The ribbon may be attached to the metallic sheet used for fabricating the pipe so that the anode is in position when the pipe is formed.
