Abstract

[Also in Divisions A1 and B8] A self-loading agricultural vehicle comprises a frame 1 supported by ground wheels 3, 4, mechanism 12 for picking up crop or other material from the ground and mechanism 14 for transferring it to a load carrying space of the vehicle, and a drawbar that is pivotable about at least one vertical axis relative to the frame 1 by adjusting means 27 provided between the drawbar and the frame 1 of the vehicle. The mounting of an auxiliary wheel 41 is connected to the drawbar so that pivotal movement of the drawbar causes the height of the wheel axis to be changed relative to the frame. The wheel 41 is lowered to the ground when the drawbar is in the position shown in full lines in Fig. 1 and raised when the drawbar is in the position shown in broken lines. The drawbar comprises two perpendicular members 21, 22 and two parallel links 16, 18, which are pivoted to the frame at 15 and 17 and to the member 21 at 19 and 20, and is pivoted by a double-acting hydraulic ram 27 which acts on an extension 24 of the link 16 and is supplied through a control valve 47, with hydraulic fluid by a pump 45 driven through a shaft 49 from a p.t.o. shaft on a towing vehicle 23. The castoring wheel 41 is mounted on a parallelogram linkage 30, 31, 33, 37 of which the link 31 is fixed to the frame 1. The link 33 has an extension 42 which is connected by a coupling-rod 44 with the drawbar link 18 to raise and lower the wheel. In Fig. 3 (not shown) the coupling rod 44 is connected to the extension 42 through a helical spring (50) to provide a resilient wheel suspension and the drawbar is pivoted by a threaded rod (51) which is mounted between the drawbar member (21) and a nut (52) on the link (16) and is rotatable through a gear casing (54) from the tractor p.t.o. shaft. As shown in Fig. 1, the axle 2 on which the wheels 3, 4 are mounted may be pivotable about a vertical pin 6 by a rod 10 connected to the extension 24 of the link 16 between a position perpendicular to the axis of the drawbar member when this is on a longitudinal axis of the vehicle and a position at an angle to this axis when the drawbar is pivoted to one side of the vehicle. The vehicle has a movable floor and a crop lifter 14 which is preferably lifted when the wheel 41 is lifted on pivoting of the drawbar. The vehicle preferably has a gear casing from which the pump 45 and the crop lifter and movable floor are alternatively driven. In Fig. 3, the crop lifter is driven from the gear casing (54) through a belt drive (56), (60), (69) gearing and a chain drive (62), (65), (66).
