Abstract
1,146,368. 1 - Hydroxy - 2 - naphthamides; 2-amino-benzoic acid esters. FUJI SHASHIN FILM K.K. 25 July, 1967 [25 July, 1966], No. 34086/67. Heading C2C. [Also in Divisions C4 and G2] 1 - Hydroxy - 2 - N - (1 - naphthyl) - naphthamide is prepared by reacting 1-hydroxy-2 naphthoic acid phenyl ester with α-naphthylamine. 1 - Hydroxy - 2 - N - [1 - {4 - (2,4 - di - sec. amylphenoxy - acetamido)} - naphthyl] - naphthamide is prepared by reacting 1-hydroxy-2- naphthoic acid phenyl ester with 4-nitronaphthylamine to yield 1 -hydroxy-2-N- (4-nitro) - naphthyl-naphthamide which is catalytically hydrogenated to 1 -hydroxy-2-N- (4-amino)-naphthyl-naphthamide which is condensed with 2,4- di-sec. amylphenoxy-acetyl chloride. 2 - Ethylhexyl - o - aminobenzoate is prepared by a transesterification reaction using ethyl-oaminobenzoate, 2-ethylhexanol and butyl titanate as catalyst; the 2-hexyldecyl ester is similarly prepared.
