Abstract

1,038,847. Spring clips. DRAFTEX Ltd. Jan. 15, 1965 [Sept. 15, 1964], No. 37581/64. Heading E2B. A clip for use in the attachment of a draught excluding or trimming and sealing strip to a supporting flange which clip is of substantially inverted U shape in cross-section and designed to straddle the supporting flange the clip frictionally gripping the flange either directly or through the medium of the covering material of the draught excluding or trimming and sealing strip, is constructed from a blank of strip or sheet metal which is slit transversely at spaced positions throughout its length the slits 2 having a length nearly equal to the width of the blank, the blank being formed with additional intermediate slits 3 projecting inwardly from opposite longitudinal edges of the blank, the blank being stretched lengthwise to open the slits and increase its effective length, the blank being bent transversely into substantially inverted U shape in cross-section the longitudinal edge portions of the blank being turned inwardly and upwardly into the interior of the clip, the extremities of the longitudinal edge portions and the apices of the additional slits being situated approximately midway of the depth of the clip. The extremities 4 of the inwardly and upwardly turned edge portions of the clip are inclined inwardly and upwardly to provide a lead and facilitate the clip being pressed into position upon the supporting flange. The covering material can be moulded or extruded directly on to the clip or alternatively can be separate.
