Abstract
1,030,324. Printing machines. AGFA A.G. June 25, 1963 [June 29, 1962], No. 25257/63. Heading B6C. In a rotary printing machine e.g. a lithographic offset machine, cam means are provided whereby when the forme-inking roller 9 is lifted off the printing cylinder 2 during interruption of printing operations, the roller is also removed from contact with a distributing roller 5 mounted on a fixed spindle 4. As applied to an arrangement, Fig. 4, wherein dampening liquid from a duct 12 and ink from a duct 28 are received by the axially-reciprocated distributing roller 5, the liquid duct-roller 10 and the inking roller 9 are mounted on bearings 7, 8 slideable in slots 6a, 6b on levers 6 pivoted on the spindle 4. Springs 16, 17 urge the rollers 9, 10 into engagement with roller 5 and a spring 11 acts on the levers 6 to move the roller 9 into engagement with the cylinder 2. A roller 40 of the ink-supplying devices also engages the roller 5 and its bearings 41 are slidable in fixed guides 42. Rotatably mounted on the spindle 4 is a cam member 39 operable by a setting lever 34. When the cam 39 is rotated clockwise, surfaces 39a, 39b and 39c of the cam engage the bearings of the rollers 9, 10, 40 and move the rollers away from the distributing roller 5. Upon further rotation, a stop surface 39c on the cam engages the bearing 7 and moves the levers 6 so that the roller 9 is raised from the cylinder. Another set of three rollers 47, 44, 49 is mounted on levers 45 pivoted about a spindle 43 in a similar manner to the rollers 9, 5, 10, the roller 44 being reciprocated axially. The rollers 47, 44, 49 engage respectively the roller 40, a polished roller 54 spring-urged towards its roller 44 and a messenger roller 33 oscillating between a duct roller 25 and its roller 49. A cam 52 pivoted on the spindle 43 has surfaces which lift the rollers 47, 54 and 49 from the roller 44 when it is rotated clockwise. The cam 52 is coupled by linkage 52e, 58, 39e to the cam 39 so that operation of the cam 39 actuates the cam 52 which through a stop part 52c moves the levers 45 clockwise so as to disengage rollers 47, 49 from rollers 40, 33 respectively. In a simplified arrangement, a roller 33, Figs. 1, 3 (not shown), engaging the distributing roller 5 in a similar manner to the roller 40, is a messenger roller and conveys ink directly from a duct roller 29 to the roller 5. In this arrangement, a cam 19 driven from the gears of roller 5 oscillates a lever 22, Fig. 3, advancing the duct roller step-by-step through a ratchet-andpawl device 23, 24. The operative stroke of the pawl 23 is determined by a pin 37b on a lever 37 which can be set by a pin-and-slot device 37a, 3d. When the lever 34 is operated to separate the rollers as described above it renders the duct-roller feed inoperative through a member 35 which engages a pin 22a on the lever 22 and moves the lever away from the cam 19.
