Abstract

1,016,267. Closing gussetted sacks. BOWATER RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CO. Ltd. April 20, 1964 [April 22, 1963], No. 15770/63. Heading B8K. The ends 13 (Fig. 3) of gussets 12 in a sack 11 are arranged so that the sealing 16 takes place mainly over regions in which the inner surface of the two walls are in contact. The ends 13 of the gussets 12 may be cut back as shown, or the ends of the gussets may be folded over (Fig. 1, not shown). The bag may be partially closed in the regions 13 (Fig. 4, not shown) before filling, and may be provided with a valve formed by folding in an extended gusset portion (Figs. 7, 10, not shown). The invention is especially useful for sacks made of polythene material having the outer surface oxidized, or of laminated material. Any type of sealing may be used.
