Abstract
1,013,548. Artificial teeth. DENTSPLY (AUSTRALIA) PROPRIETARY Ltd. Sept. 10, 1962 [Oct. 4, 1961], No. 34596/62. Heading A5R. An artificial tooth is formed with an area, visible from the front, which simulates the pearliness of natural teeth and comprises a partly reflective layer behind a translucent veneer. In one method of producing such a tooth the enamel layer 10 is first formed in a mould and an area 14 is applied to it by brushing or spraying, which comprises "pearl" pigment and may be made from comminuted fish scales or from flat-plate-like crystals such as are obtained from the lead salts of fatty acids. Thereafter the dentine portion 16 of the tooth is formed in the mould. Preferably the inner surface of the enamel layer is made irregular so that the inserted layer gives a more natural appearance in reflected light.
