Abstract

1,003,019. Injection - blow - moulding. ANSTALT VARASY. June 18, 1962 [June 23, 1961], No. 23364/62. Heading B5A. A method of making an article, e.g. a dropper device for liquids, comprises the steps of injecting thermoplastic material into a first cold mould (Fig. 2, not shown), transferring the injected blank to a device 13 (Fig. 3) where at least part (8) of the blank is heated by a heater 17, and then blow moulding the heated part in a second cold mould 18 (Fig. 4). Compressed air is introduced through a tube 22. The heater 17 may be electrical resistances surrounded by a quartz jacket. Alternatively heating may be by infra-red rays, high frequency heating, ultrasonic radiation, hot air or by a coil conveying hot liquid. The invention may also be used in the moulding of one-piece taps having parts connected by a bellows, receptacles having non-removable closures, or atomizers.
