Abstract

1,098,211. Floating platforms; wells &c. ESSO PRODUCTION RESEARCH CO. Feb. 1, 1966 [March 15, 1965], No. 4449/66. Headings E1F and E1H. A floating off-shore drilling-platform 12 comprises a deck 11 upon a framework 14, 15, 16, which is supported by floats 13 attached to mooring lines 18, means 36 for storing oil and gas obtained from subaqueous wells 27, 30 being connected to wellheads 29, 30 by flexible pipes 23, 24, 28 and 23a, 24a, 29, respectively. To prevent injury due to waveaction, the pipes 23. 23a are secured to or integral with two of 'the mooring lines and connected to the pipes 24, 24a by passages 25 in the corresponding floats, the latter pipes being attached to or lodged within two of the vertical members 14 of said framework. The vertical orientation of the mooring lines minimizes horizontal displacement of the platform by wave-action, Fig.2 (not shown).
