Abstract

1,097,371. Sintering apparatus. HUNTING- TON HEBERLEIN & CO. Ltd. May 26, 1966 [July 2, 1965], No. 28147/65. Heading F4B. In sintering apparatus having an endless travelling grate each drop seal arrangement between pallets 1 and tunnel 5 comprises a drop bar 22 mounted on the outer edge of a trough 20 formed in a bracket 19 for carrying away particles blown past deflector plates 15, and a wear strip 23 carried by a girder 24 supporting a sand seal 25 in which the side of the tunnel terminates. The brackets 19 bolted to the upper side wall section 16 of the pallets also carry axles for rollers 8 and further drop seal bars 14 which bear on wear strips 13 to seal the windboxes. The wear strips 13 may be replaced by grease slides, in which case the support rails 7 may be omitted, the pallets being supported on the grease slides. The tunnel sides may be extended downwardly.
