1,097,198. Rotary Brushes. DAWSON BROS. Ltd., D. DAWSON and G. DAWSON. Sept. 20, 1966 [Nov. 11, 1965], No. 47859/65. Heading A4K. In a cylindrical rotary brush assembly, axially extending strip brushes are held in curved carrier plates by the pinching action of the opposite walls (3) of channels 1 produced by clamping the plate so that its inner surface conforms with the external curved surface of drive shaft or sleeve S. The strip brushes are a sliding fit in the channels 1 of the unstressed plate and, on screwing studs through holes 13 to bring projection 11 into contact with shaft S, the bases of the channels 1 are flexed sufficiently to grip them. The carrier plates may be extruded, from light alloy or plastic, with the channels 1 inclined to the axis, so as to provide a helical bristle configuration.
