Abstract

1,096,581. Shoots, COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. June 24, 1964 [June 24, 1963], No. 25122/63. Heading B8S. A bunker (Figs. 1 and 2) with a discharge eutlet spaced from the side or sides at the bottom 2 has a fixed spiral shoot 3 to load material to the top of the bunkered mass and a trunk or chimney above the Outlet having closed side walls 6 and one or more open sides or slots through which the bunkered material may enter the trunk 5 to pass down to the outlet, the shoot 3 and a closed side 6 being secured together. The slots are each bounded by a pair of abutments 7 acting as a base to form an arch of material across the slots and face away from the shoot 3 to which one wall 6 is secured, the other wall 6 being outwardly V-shaped with baffle plates 8, at the apex of which is an upstanding baffle plate 9. In another embodiment (Fig. 4) one side wall 36, 36 with cheeks 38 is secured to the shoot 24 to which an opposite side wall 42, 42 is also secured by a wall 39 dividing the trunk into compartments 22 each acting as, a chimney. The wall 42, 42 is V-shaped and has cheeks 40. The compartments 22 may be replaced by a form of trunking in which the walls 39, and 42, 42 are absent and the wall 36 is continuous and even. In a final embodiment (Fig. 7) there are two shoots 60 between which is the trunk or chimney 66 having opposed slots 68 and opposed closed side walls 72 (with abutments 70), each secured to a shoot 60 and having a V-shaped outer surface.
