Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of formula <FORM:1096341/C2/1> where R is a radical of formula -CH2CH2-CO-Ar in which Ar is a phenyl, thienyl, halophenyl, alkylphenyl or alkoxyphenyl group and X is a halogen atom, or R is a b -(2- or 4-pyridyl)-ethyl group and X is an o- or p-fluorine atom, acid addition salts thereof, and their preparation by reaction of a halophenyl-piperazine with (a) a ketone and formaldehyde or (b) 2- or 4-vinyl-pyridine. The compounds of the invention have analgesic, antihistamnic, neuroleptic, sympatholytic, anti-tussive and sedative activity and may be used in pharmaceutical compositions in combination with a carrier.
