Abstract
1,094,898. Set-off; preventing. OXY-DRY INTERNATIONAL Ltd. June 17, 1965, No. 25728/65. Heading B6C. Apparatus for applying offset powder P to printed sheets or webs T comprises a powder container consisting of sloping sheet-like members 6, 15 supported by side walls 2, 3, and a rotating roller 20 in the gap between the lower edges of the members 6, 15, the roller having a roughened surface whereby it picks up powder which is subsequently removed from its surface and directed on to the sheets T by air blasts 30 from nozzles 32. The members 6, 15 are supported intermediate their ends by blocks 10, 17 attached to the side walls 2, 3, the block 10, as shown, being adjustable to control the amount of powder taken by the roller 20. The block 17 may also be adjustable. For restricting dispersion of the powder and guiding its movement, air blasts 35 from nozzles 32<SP>1</SP> mounted on the wall 2 may be provided. The roller 20 may rotate in the opposite direction to that shown in Fig. 1 (see Fig. 7, not shown).
