Abstract

A writing ink comprises an alkaline solution of a polyethyleneimine and an acid or direct dyestuff. The latter includes Chlorantine Fast Red 5B, Syno Direct Fast Red 8 BLNW, Phloxine BP, Pontamine Fast Orange EGL, Chlorantine Fast Yellow 5GLL, Chinoline Yellow SSF, Direct Brilliant Green CBM, Fastusol Turquoise Blue LGP, Luxol Fast Blue MBSN, Pontamine Fast Violet 4BL, Calcodur Violet 4BL, Pontamine Fast Brown NP, Direct Black E, Calcomine Black BHD and Pontamine Black ULR. Water which should preferably be distilled or deionized may be used as a solvent for the ink and suitable organic solvents, which may be used instead of or in addition to water are polyhydric alcohols and their ethers and especially suitable are glycerine, the glycols and the glycol ethers. The ink contains 0.05 to 12% by weight of dyestuff and 0.05 to 10% by weight of polyethyleneimine. Other additives include polyvinyl pyrrolidone, phenol or one of the substituted or poly phenols. A pH range from 10.5 to 12.5 is preferred and may be controlled by the addition of inorganic basic material, e.g. ammonia, or a water-soluble organic amine such as an ethanolamine, or an organic acid such as acetic acid. Uses.-Fountain pen or ball pen inks, for felt tip marking pens and stamp pads.ALSO:A writing ink comprises an alkaline solution of a polyethyleneimine and a dyestuff. Suitable dyestuffs are acid and direct dyestuffs and include Chlorantine Fast Red 5B, Syno Direct Fast Red 8BLNW, Phloxine BP, Pontamine Fast Orange EGL, Chlorantine Fast Yellow 5GLL, Chinoline Yellow SSF, Direct Brilliant Green CBM, Fastusol Turquoise Blue LGP, Luxol Fast Blue MBSN, Pontamine Fast Violet 4BL, Calcodur Violet 4BL, Pontamine Fast Brown NP, Direct Black E, Calcomine Black BHD, and Pontamine Black ULR. Water which should preferably be distilled or deionized may be used as a solvent for the ink and suitable organic solvents, which may be used instead of or in addition to water, are polyhydric alcohols and their ethers and especially suitable are glycerine, the glycols and the glycol ethers.
