Abstract

A protein-forming supplementary feed for ruminants is prepared by impregnating (e.g. by spraying) compressed sugar beet cossettes having a temperature of 60-70 DEG C., with an aqueous solution comprising urea, a phosphate (e.g. a mixture of mono- and bi-sodium phosphates) and molasses and optionally yeast, having a temperature of 70-80 DEG C. and drying, e.g. in a drum at 100 DEG C. The dried cossettes may be ground, mixed with a concentrate of vitamins, dry powdered yeast and molasses, and formed into pellets.
