Abstract

N - Acyl - 2 - aminoalkanesulphonic acids, their salts, esters and amides, and 2-aminoalkanesulphonic acids are made by (a) reacting olefins with HCN or organic nitrile, and with SO3 or ClSO3H, (b) reacting the products with H2O, metal hydroxides, alcohols, phenols, NH3 or amines, and optionally (c) hydrolysing the said N-acyl compounds. The reaction is stated to proceed as follows, where Y-H is the agent used in stage (b) <FORM:1090779/C2/1>
