Abstract

1,086,841. Package closures; opening containers. MONSANTO CHEMICALS Ltd. April 26, 1966 [June 16, 1965], No. 25421/65. Headings B8C and B8D. The closure 2 of a vacuum-formed polystyrene tray 1 is formed with a pleat 3 for opening. The ends of the pleat are held down by the seal connecting the closure and tray, which seal may comprise heat sealing, impulse sealing, ultrasonic sealing, a solvent, or an adhesive. The middle of the pleat is free to facilitate grasping thereby enabling the closure to be torn away from the tray. The material in which the pleat is formed is preferably transparent biaxially orientated polystyrene.
