Abstract

1,081,679. Centrifugal strainer. OFFICINE MECCANICHE E FONDERIE A. BOSCO S.p.A. Nov. 13, 1964 [Nov. 27, 1963], No. 46397/64. Heading B1D. [Also in Division F4] Doors 15 in the base of a basket 2 of_apparatus for centrifuging sugar are connected by levers 9 to a control cylinder 10 which is vertically reciprocated by a pneumatic piston carried by an extension 19 of the drier shaft so as to move along a member 11 secured to the hub 3 of the centrifuge to open and close the doors. A bearing member 17 on the lower portion of the cylinder 10 in its lowermost position seats within a locking ring 7 to prevent rotation of the shaft and allow discharge of the centrifuged material by scrapers (not shown). The piston is actuated by compressed air supplied by a valve 12 to either of two chambers formed within the cylinder by a diaphragm 13.
