Abstract
1,080,844. Cables. FELTERN & GUILLEAUME CARLSWERK A.G. May 6, 1966 [May 8, 1965], No. 20100/66. Heading H1A. A multi-core cable comprises a central (earth) conductor of aluminium surrounded by cores, each of which is a solid extrudate of aluminium, the cross-section of which is a sector of an annulus. As described the central conductor 1 may also be a solid extrudate of aluminium or may consist of a bundle of aluminium wires loosely stranded to form an extensible conductor. The central conductor may be covered with insulation or may be merely surrounded by the cores 2, 3 and 4 which are individually covered with P.V.C. and are enclosed in a P.V.C. sheath 4. An additional (control) core 13 together with a thermoplastic filler 14 or a flat core (Fig. 3, not shown) may be included between the cores 2 and 4. The insulating covering on any of the cores may be a thermoplastics or elastic material which deforms to fill spaces and/or the interstices may be filled with petroleum jelly. The extruded -cores are more flexible than drawn and stranded cores and thus the cable is more flexible and easier to branch.
