Abstract
1,078,624. Hydraulic intensifiers. R. LEHLE. Dec. 15, 1964, No. 51300/64. Heading F1P. The driving piston 3 of a hydraulic intensifier provides an oil reservoir 6 covered by a flexible diaphragm which when subjected to air pressure from a line 17 and a valve 18 forces oil through an axial bore 9 and a check valve 10 of the piston rod 4 into the pressure space 13 of the working cylinder 12 to effect rapid displacement of the working piston 14 until the latter becomes loaded whereon the resulting pressure rise in space 13 causes valve 10 to close and valve 20 to reverse to vent the underside of the driving piston 3 which is then forced downwardly by the air pressure above it and thus pressurizes the oil in space 13. To effect the return stroke valve 18 is manually reversed to vent the space 7 above diaphragm 5 and pressurize a space 16 below piston 14, and the pressure drop in space 13 reverses valve 20 to direct air pressure from line 17 into cylinder space 8. In a modification the working cylinder is separated from the driving cylinder and both the driving piston and working piston are returned by a spring.
