Abstract

107,500. Crowley, J. F. Oct. 10, 1916. Tension and supporting arrangements.-Antivibration devices for the driving-belts of suspended electro-motors &c. are provided with means for adjusting the belt tension without altering the adjustment of the springs for counteracting vibration. In the form shown in Fig. 1 the frame of an electro-motor a, for driving a loom, is pivoted at c<1> and supported by springs d, d<1> for counteracting vibration which bear on a lug a<1> on it. The springs are carried by a rod e fixed in a lever f which is adjustable by nuts on a fixed rod g' to vary the tension of the belt b on the driving- pulley b'. In the form shown in Fig. 2, vibration of the belt b is counteracted by springs d, d' which bear on a lever i' carrying a jockey-pulley h, and the tension of the belt is varied by adjusting the position of the rod e carrying the springs by nuts e<1>. In another modification, the tension on the belt is maintained by a weighted lever connected through two antivibration springs with a three-armed lever carrying a jockey-pulley bearing on. the belt.
