Abstract
1,071,045. Wrenches. B. H. LYNN. Nov. 22, 1965 [May 28, 1965], No. 49549/65. Heading B4W. A multiple socket wrench comprises an outer socket 2 of non- circular inner shape in which a number of nested sockets 8, 9, 10 are retained and in which the open end of each socket is normally positioned in a common plane normal to the axis of rotation, telescopic means being provided whereby the open end of any one of the sockets will engage a corresponding bolt head or nut when the assembly is pressed thereon. A coupling member 3 is press fitted into the end of the outer socket 2, the member 3 having an hexagonal recess 4 for receiving the driving projection 5 of a handle 6. The member 3 has a downwardly extending hook 7 for retaining the next smaller socket 8. Springs 11, 12, 13 associated respectively with pins 15, 17, 20 together with hook 7, hold the outer ends of all the sockets in a common plane. In a modification, Figs. 7-13 (not shown) all pins except the pin 15 are eliminated by the use of integral projections which engage in longitudinal slots to interconnect the three internal sockets.
