Abstract

1,068,527. Advancing mine roof supports. W.E. & F. DOBSON Ltd. April 21, 1966 [April 29, 1965], No.18069/65. Heading F1P. At least two laterally spaced advancable hydraulic front props (2, 3) Fig. 2 (not shown) are mounted on a common base (4) to which is pivoted at (5e, 5f) a blast barrier (5) and to which is connected by a hydraulic advancing jack (28) and telescopic guide means (21, 24) a base (9) on which are mounted at least two laterally spaced advancable hydraulic rear props (7, 8). The blast barrier (5) has a flexible head and is pivoted forwardly and downwardly by a hydraulic jack (18). The front portion of the telescopic guide comprises a box member (26) pivoted by a horizontal lateral pin (25d) to base (4) and receives rails (22, 22a) connected by a lateral horizontal hinge pin (27) sockets (27a), (27b) and brackets (9a, 9b) secured to the rear base (9). The roof props (2, 3, 7 and 8) are released, advanced and reset in conventional manner being controlled by manually operated three-position control valves (31, 32) Fig. 8 (not shown) and throttle valves (CO, CO1). Jack (28) is controlled by a threeposition valve (33) whilst jack (18) is controlled by the front prop assembly valve (31).
