Abstract
Polymers are obtained by reacting a compound having at least two radicals of formula <FORM:1067232/C3/1> where X is O or NH, Y is H or alkyl and Z is an electron attracting group, the compound being a polyester, polyether, polyol, or polyamine, with an aldehyde and a polyamine. The compound may have the formula <FORM:1067232/C3/2> where X, Y and Z are as above and -X-R-X- represents a polyester, polyether, polyol or polyamine radical. In examples formaldehyde and piperazine are reacted with hexamethylene-1,6-bis-acetoacetyl ester, with hexamethylene-1,6-bis-acetoacetylamide, with polyethylene terephthalate in which the terminal OH-groups have been acetoacetylated, and with a polypropylene glycol the terminal OH-groups of which also have been acetoacetylated. Other starting materials are mentioned.
