Abstract

1,066,314. Injection moulding. H. MAGIDSON. Oct. 9, 1963 [May 28, 1963], No. 39768/63. Heading B5A. A flexible and extensible sheet material is stretched to a desired three-dimensional form and then reinforced with a stiffener member in grid or sheet form bonded thereto by injection moulding. In an example a brassiere cup is made in a mould (20), (21) (Fig. 4, not shown), lined with a fabric sheet (10), plastic material being injected at (23) into a series of grooves (25) to form a grid-like reinforcing network on the surface of the fabric. The flexible sheet material may be a knitted, netted or woven fabric, a vinyl sheet, a polyurethane foam, felt, cotton, wool, linen, silk, nylon, acetate, acrylic or polyester fibres. The reinforcing material may be nylon, polyethylene, polypropylene, acetate, polystyrene, halogenated hydrocarbons or acetal resin. The stiffener member may be moulded on to both sides of the fabric.
