Abstract
Pile material (1) is corrugated between blades (5) and (6), which are movable in a series of guide grids (3) and (4) which traverse the machine, and an adhesive backing (11) is applied. Figure 4a (not shown) shows that a continuously moving conveyor (40) has levers (41) that push the guide grids (3), (4) out of supports (22), (60\sv) so that cam operated plates (75), (95) can move successive blades (5) and (6) (Fig. 5, not shown) out of the grids to corrugate the pile. The support (22) is then moved anticlockwise from positions (a) to (e) to engage an upper grid (3), that has passed along the machine, and to move it clockwise from (e) to (a) so that the lever (41) may eject it from the support (22). The lower grids (4) traverse further along the machine and support the pile whilst the backing is applied and are moved by an arm (61) (Fig. 4b, not shown) and support (60) to a lower conveyor which push them out of the support (60) and convey them to the support (60\sv) (Fig. 4a, not shown) which moves them to the upper position where the levers (41) move them out of the support (60\sv).
