Abstract

1,058,668. Hooks. HARLEY PATENTS (INTERNATIONAL) Ltd. Feb. 12, 1965 [Feb. 24, 1964], No. 7609/64. Heading F2H. An open-mouthed hook has a pivoted shroud (65) arranged to move outwardly from the mouth (68) to an open position and latching means to retain the shroud in a closed position. The shroud comprises a U-shaped member having a pair of slide plates (66). The latching means comprises a pair of spring-biased plungers (71) mounted in a transverse bore (72) in the stem of the hook, each normally projecting therefrom to engage a disc (76) which is held within an outward pressing (77) of the shroud to prevent movement of the latter. The plungers are forced inwards to release the latch, each by press-button (80) which is received in an opening in the part (77) of the shroud and aligned with the plunger in the closed position.
