Abstract

A device for controlling the viscosity of a liquid by the addition of a diluent comprises a reservoir (1) supplied with the liquid and having an outlet orifice (4). The reservoir has an overflow (3) whereby the liquid issuing from the orifice is under a constant pressure. The diluent is supplied through a valve (7) which is loaded to the open position by a hinged vane (5). The flow of diluent is controlled by the vane which is positioned in response to the jet issuing from the orifice (4) such that a decrease in viscosity causes the valve (7) to be moved towards a closed position. The initial position of the valve block (8) of valve (7) is adjustable by a screw (9).
